Classes for Ages 5-10

Session 4: February 2 - March 22, 2026

This class has been requested so many times that we decided to offer it for the second time during this school year. Every artist will choose an ocean creature and turn it into a paper mache sculpture. We will create a background using abstract painting techniques to showcase our sculpture in its ocean environment.

All artists may choose their artwork to be included in our next exhibition and will be invited to our exhibition opening party!

Due to its popularity, a second section of this class will be offered on Saturdays in our German immersion art class.

  • Class time: Monday 5:00-6:15pm

  • Age requirement: children must be at least 6 years old OR currently enrolled in Kindergarten (This class is NOT suitable for preschool students. Students who are slightly older than 10 may join if they do not mind working with younger classmates.)

  • 6 classes per session: 2/2, 2/9, 2/23, 3/2, 3/9, 3/16

  • Cost: $240 (materials included)

If you enroll more than one child, pay the full price for one class, then apply our 10% sibling discount to all other children’s art classes. In case of different program fees, the higher-priced program has to be paid in full. Use coupon code SIBLING during checkout for the discounted class.

  • What to bring: wear clothes that can be washed easily in case it gets messy (we have smocks), water bottle (optional)

This is a drop-off class. If needed, parents may stay for the beginning of the class to make sure their child feels comfortable with the group and the teacher. We will call the emergency contacts listed on your waiver if a child needs to be picked up early.

In this class, we will learn how to paint things by NOT painting them. In other words, we will explore different ways to paint the background and create a negative space that magically becomes our foreground. We will use water color, creative painting tools, and finish with a canvas painting.

All artists may choose their artwork to be included in our next exhibition and will be invited to our exhibition opening party!

Session 3: December 8, 2025 - February 1, 2026

All you need to make a fabric wire sculpture is wire, paper, tape, fabric, yarn, and a lot of creativity! There will be no templates to copy or patterns to follow as every child will design their own animal. Our teacher will support the creative process by introducing the materials we have available, and by assisting with challenges while constructing the body of our sculptures.

This class will develop creative thinking, support your child’s planning skills, and strengthen mental flexibility. Taking responsibility for the entire creative process from planning to execution provides children with agency, develops their patience, and builds resilience. That’s why making art benefits your child’s development in a myriad of ways and prepares them for a successful future. Did we mention that making art is one of the easiest ways to increase happiness?

All artists get to choose one of their artworks to be included in our next exhibition and will be invited to our exhibition opening party!

A beautiful sky is the perfect background for almost any painting. But what about making the sky our main character? How do you paint a morning sky? A sunset? A moon-lit sky at night? Clouds? And how would you paint a complete galaxy? We will use watercolor, tempera paint, and acrylic to follow our imagination and practice our skills.

This class will train your child’s imagination, develop fine motor skills, and strengthen mental flexibility. Turning imagined pictures in our mind into real paintings is a complex process that relies on our working memory as well as constant self-evaluation and correction, and requires us to face our own shortcomings to find creative solutions. That’s why making art benefits your child’s development in a myriad of ways and prepares them for a successful future. Did we mention that making art is one of the easiest ways to increase happiness?

German immersion collage making class!

Create amazing collages while practicing German

This class will be taught in German and is open to children age 5-12. We will explore intuitive collage techniques that can be learned by observing and imitating. All levels of German learners are welcome to make art together.

We will assemble cut-out body parts (after naming them in German) to create a monster collage, weave two magazine photos into one to create a new layer of meaning, and create a black-and-white collage to complete it with colorful acrylic markers. While some focus will be on language use and building vocabulary, children will work on their creative skills and use their imagination. Once language becomes secondary, it is easy to overcome perfectionism and let go of the fear of making mistakes while speaking.

All artists get to choose one of their artworks to be included in our next exhibition and will be invited to attend our exhibition opening party!

  • Class time: Saturday 2:00-3:15pm

  • 6 classes per session: 12/13, 12/20, 1/10, 1/17, 1/24, 1/31

  • Eva taught both of my children for three years. She is the kind of person that kids are drawn to and want to hug all the time, and yet, she is a strong leader. She is creative, attentive, and takes children and their ideas seriously.

    Melissa (parent)

  • Eva is an experienced educator who naturally connects with children. She uses her wealth of experience to keep students engaged and entertained. Never expect her to teach just one thing at a time - she constantly creates connections across subjects and will find ways to include music, math, science, or history into any art lesson.

    Zoran (colleague)

  • Eva has a gift for building connections with children of all ages within minutes. She instantly gets their attention, awakens their curiosity, and brings out their smiles. In return, she gives them respect, shares her knowledge, teaches new skills, and makes sure everybody has fun. More than a fair deal, I‘d say.
